Cristina's Sorter · for your Mac
Drop your clips, photos and sounds in one folder and type sort. Claude renames every file so the name says what's inside, and puts each one in the right folder.

With the Sorter
Both sides are the same real sort of my folder: 168 files, 8 folders, 168 new names. Every old name is kept in old-names.txt.
A messy camera roll doesn't cost money. It costs minutes, a few at a time, every time you sit down to edit. Here's an example with round numbers, so you can check it with your own:
5 min a day
≈30
hours a year
15 min a day
≈90
hours a year
30 min a day
≈180
hours a year
minutes a day × 365 ÷ 60 = hours a year
That's an example, not a guess about you. Only you know your number. And the pile grows every time you film, so the easiest day to sort it is before the next one.
Drop your files in
Everything from your phone goes into one red folder called Sort me. Clips, photos, screenshots, songs, sounds. iPhone files are fine as they are.
Type sort
Claude looks at 3 moments of every clip and listens to the first 10 seconds, so it knows what's actually inside.
Watch them fly into folders
The pile flies into folders on your screen (yes, you can film it). Say yes and every file moves, with its new name.
Press sort. It's a replay of a real sort of my messy folder, quick on purpose. On your computer Claude takes a few minutes to look and listen first (about 20 seconds per talking clip), then this same animation plays.
✓ Filming day to edit-ready in minutes
Dump the day's clips in Sort me, type sort, make a coffee. When you're back, every file is in its folder.
✓ Every file named
Talking_13_morning-coffee-my-one-take-reel.mov, not IMG_4808. Search for any word and the shot is there.
✓ Nothing deleted
Copies go to Duplicates. Every old name is kept in old-names.txt, next to your folders.
✓ Undo, any time
Say "undo the last sort" and every file goes back with its old name.
✓ Works every time you add files
Drop new files in and type sort. The numbers carry on where they stopped (B-roll_13 comes after B-roll_12).
✓ Your folders, your words
The creator set, a lifestyle set, or your own like "day 1, day 2, day 3". No credits, no tokens: it runs on your own Claude plan.

One-time payment, not a subscription.
Worth about $199 of an assistant's time
Opening, checking and renaming 150 files by hand takes about a minute each: 2.5 hours. At $70 to $90 an hour, a common rate for an editing assistant, that's $175 to $225. The Sorter does it while you make a coffee.
What you need
Your files stay on your computer. To decide where each one goes, Claude sees small preview frames and the first words of each clip, the same way it sees anything you show it in a chat. The sorter itself uploads nothing, has no account and never asks for your name or email.
Type "undo the last sort" and every file goes back with its old name. It never deletes anything, and old-names.txt keeps every old name.
It's good, not perfect: a clip that starts on B-roll and only shows your face later can land in Voiceover. Type "B-roll_04 is a talking head" and it moves and renames it, or drag it yourself.
